Food

Meals are hearty and designed to fuel your body for long trekking days. Expect dishes like dal bhat (rice and lentils), momos (dumplings), noodle soups, pasta, Tibetan bread, and pancakes. As you gain altitude, the menu becomes simpler, with potatoes and grains as staples. Hot tea and filtered water are available at all lodges.

Physical Fitness and Preparation

The Annapurna Circuit With Tilicho Lake Trek is moderately to highly challenging. You’ll trek 5–8 hours daily, often at altitudes above 4,000 meters. Prior trekking experience is helpful but not mandatory.

Tips for Preparation

  • Build cardiovascular endurance through hiking, running, or cycling
  • Train with a weighted backpack on hilly terrain
  • Stay hydrated and eat well in the weeks leading up to the trek
  • Arrive in Kathmandu 2–3 days early to adjust to the time zone and altitude
  • Consult your doctor about altitude sickness prevention (such as Diamox)

Remember: altitude affects everyone differently. Listen to your body, trek slowly, and communicate with your guide.

  1. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) – Protects the natural environment
