Comfort Meets Adventure in the Himalayas

At Everest Hikes, we believe that experiencing the world’s highest peaks shouldn’t mean sacrificing comfort. Our Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek is thoughtfully designed to offer you the finest accommodations and dining available in the Khumbu region—because your journey to Everest deserves nothing less.

Mountain Lodges That Redefine Trekking Comfort

Throughout your Everest Base Camp trek, we ensure you stay in the most comfortable lodges the Himalayas have to offer. For the majority of your journey, you’ll enjoy the renowned Yeti Mountain Home properties—premium mountain lodges that set the standard for hospitality in Nepal’s high-altitude regions.

These exceptional lodges feature:

  • Well-appointed private rooms with quality bedding
  • Clean, modern facilities maintained to international standards
  • Warmth and ambiance that make every evening a welcome retreat
  • Stunning mountain views from comfortable dining and common areas

In villages where Yeti Mountain Home properties aren’t available—including Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep—we’ve carefully selected the best available teahouses. Your rooms will include electric blankets for warmth, and in most locations, private attached bathrooms for your convenience. At Gorakshep, our highest overnight stop, accommodations are more basic with shared facilities, reflecting the realities of this remote, high-altitude location—but comfort remains our priority with quality bedding and electric blankets provided.

Nourishing Cuisine to Fuel Your Trek

Good food is essential to a successful Nepal trekking experience, and we take this seriously. Throughout your Luxury EBC Trek, you’ll enjoy carefully prepared, hygienic meals that provide both nutrition and satisfaction.

Our dining experience includes:

  • Generous portions — We encourage hearty eating to fuel your body for the altitude and terrain (though we do kindly ask trekkers to take only what they’ll consume, respecting both our hosts and the environment)
  • Diverse menu options — Choose from Nepali dal bhat, Continental favorites, Indian cuisine, and trekking classics like pizza, momo, pancakes, and porridge
  • Thoughtful extras — Complimentary desserts after lunch and dinner add a sweet touch to every meal
  • Quality ingredients — All meals are prepared fresh with attention to hygiene and nutritional value

Our experienced guides know which dishes work best at different altitudes and will offer recommendations to help you maintain your energy and acclimatization throughout the trek.

The Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek with Everest Hikes means uncompromising standards where it matters most. We don’t simply use the word “luxury” as marketing—we deliver it through:

  • The finest available accommodations at every stop on your journey

  • Personalized attention from professional guides who prioritize your comfort and safety
  • Thoughtful details that transform a challenging trek into an extraordinary experience

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek – 12 Days FAQs

Why is the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek more expensive than the standard trek?

This premium package includes helicopter flights both ways (Kathmandu-Lukla and Gorakshep-Kathmandu), eliminating the need for the challenging mountain flight on small aircraft. You'll enjoy the best available accommodations in the Everest region, along with premium meals throughout your journey. In Kathmandu, we provide luxury hotel accommodation with all modern amenities. The higher cost reflects these upgraded services, ensuring maximum comfort at high altitude where such facilities are rare.

What is the group size for this trek?

This is designed as a private trek exclusively for you and your travel companions. However, if you prefer a group experience, we can arrange for up to 4 other trekkers to join your departure upon request. Private treks offer more flexibility with schedules and personalized attention from your guide.

Are helicopter flights included, and how safe are they?

Yes, helicopter charter service is fully included in your package:

  • Kathmandu to Lukla (outbound)
  • Gorakshep to Kathmandu via Lukla (return)

Helicopter flights in the Himalayas are generally safe and operated by experienced pilots familiar with mountain conditions. We work only with reputable aviation companies that maintain high safety standards. While weather can occasionally cause delays, and mountain flying does carry inherent risks, thousands of trekkers use helicopter services successfully each year. Our team monitors weather conditions closely to ensure flights operate only when conditions are favorable.

What fitness level do I need for this trek?

While the luxury package provides premium comfort and helicopter transfers, the Everest Base Camp trek still requires good physical fitness. You'll be trekking 5-7 hours daily at high altitude (up to 5,545m/18,192ft at Kala Patthar). We recommend:

  • Regular cardiovascular exercise for at least 1 month before departure
  • Practice hiking with elevation gain if possible
  • Being comfortable walking several hours with a light daypack

Previous trekking experience is helpful but not mandatory if you're in good shape.

When is the best time for this trek?

The best seasons are:

Spring (March to May): Clear skies, rhododendron blooms, warmer temperatures
Autumn (September to November): Stable weather, excellent visibility, comfortable temperatures

We can arrange treks during winter (December-February) and monsoon (June-August), but conditions are more challenging with cold temperatures or rain/clouds potentially affecting views and helicopter operations.

What about altitude sickness and safety measures?

Your safety is our top priority. Our comprehensive safety measures include:

  • Experienced, first-aid certified guides trained in altitude sickness recognition and emergency response
  • Proper acclimatization schedule with rest days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche
  • Emergency oxygen supply carried throughout the trek
  • Satellite communication devices for emergency contact
  • Sherpa support staff to carry your main luggage, allowing you to trek with only a light daypack
  • Daily health monitoring by your guide to detect early symptoms

Our gradual ascent itinerary is specifically designed to minimize altitude-related risks.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for this trek. Your policy must specifically cover:

  • High-altitude trekking (up to 6,000m)
  • Helicopter rescue and emergency evacuation
  • Medical treatment and hospitalization
  • Trip cancellation and interruption

Even with our excellent support and safety measures, altitude sickness can affect anyone regardless of fitness level. Insurance ensures you're protected in case emergency evacuation or medical care becomes necessary.

Do I need to bring trekking gear, or can I rent equipment?

You should bring personal clothing and essentials (detailed packing list provided upon booking). We provide following equipment in as our complimentary service:

  • Sleeping bags (4-season rated)
  • Down jackets
  • Trekking poles
  • Duffel bags

Quality rental gear is available at reasonable rates. We'll guide you to reliable rental shops or can arrange rentals through our office.
