Beginning Your Adventure
Your expedition begins with a flight from Kathmandu to the scenic lakeside city of Pokhara, followed by another scenic flight to Jomsom – the gateway to Upper Mustang. From here, your trekking adventure unfolds as you traverse the arid, wind-sculpted landscapes of Lo-Manthang, an ancient walled kingdom that seems frozen in time.
Approaching the Summit
The route to Saribung Peak takes you through the Saribung La pass near the sacred Damodar Kunda (lake). Our experienced Sherpa guides will provide comprehensive training on essential mountaineering techniques, including the proper use of ropes and crampons. We’ll establish fixed ropes on exposed sections to ensure your safety during the climb.
The Return Journey
After conquering the summit, you’ll descend through the remote Nar Village and continue via Dharapani and Jagat to Bulbule, before returning to Kathmandu. This return route offers a completely different landscape, allowing you to experience the diverse terrains of Nepal in a single journey.

Saribung Peak Climbing – 25 Days - Itinerary
Welcome to Kathmandu (1400m/4,430ft)
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport where our staff will greet you with a personalized name card and transfer you to your hotel. We'll conduct a brief orientation about your upcoming adventure in the evening.
Preparation Day in Kathmandu
Today is dedicated to final preparations for your expedition. We'll handle necessary paperwork at the Department of Tourism and provide time for last-minute equipment purchases in the vibrant Thamel district.
Journey to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft)
Depart early morning for the scenic 6-hour drive to Pokhara. Alternatively, take a short 25-minute flight offering spectacular aerial views. Pokhara welcomes you with magnificent vistas of Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhare, Manaslu, and the Annapurna range. Spend your afternoon exploring the tranquil Phewa Lake with optional boating.
Fly to Jomsom and Trek to Kagbeni (2,858m/9,375ft)
Take an early morning flight to Jomsom, experiencing a breathtaking 20-minute journey over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. Begin your trek along the Kali Gandaki riverbed, reaching Ekley-bhatti village before continuing to the fascinating wind-swept settlement of Kagbeni, an important point on the ancient Trans-Himalayan salt trade route.
Kagbeni to Chele (3,050m/10,004ft)
After permit check, follow the Kaligandaki riverbank upstream through picturesque landscapes. The trail alternates between gentle climbs and descents until reaching Tangbe village with its distinctive white-washed houses and fields of buckwheat, barley, and apple orchards. Continue to Chhusang, cross the river and pass through a natural tunnel formed by fallen conglomerate rock before reaching Chele village.
Chele to Gilling
Today's route climbs to Taklam La Pass (3,624m/11,923ft), offering magnificent views of Tilicho Peak, Yakawa Kang, and Damodar Danda. Descend briefly to Samar village, then climb above it to reach a ridgeline before steeply descending to a stream. Continue for about 3 hours through areas dotted with juniper trees (traditionally used as incense for local ceremonies) and pass the famous Ramchung Cave before arriving at Syanbochen and eventually Gilling.
Gilling to Charang (3,500m/11,480ft)
After breakfast, cross Ghaymi Khola and climb to a plateau where you'll encounter an impressively long mani wall (sacred stone wall built by Buddhist followers). From the wall's end, head east to reach Charang, a settlement characterized by fields surrounded by stone walls, willow trees, and traditional houses perched atop the Tsarang Chu canyon. The village features a prominent white dzong (fortress) and a red gompa (monastery).
Charang to Lo-Mangthang (3,700m/12,136ft)
Today's trek offers spectacular views of Nilgiri, Tilicho, Annapurna I, and Bhrikuti peaks. Descend to Charang Chu Canyon before a steep climb across the river. The trail then ascends gently to the windy Lo Pass (3,850m), providing your first glimpse of the Lo-Mangthang valley. As you descend toward the ancient walled city, admire the magnificent setting against the backdrop of hills marking the Tibetan border.
Explore Lo-Mangthang
Dedicate today to exploring this fascinating medieval walled city. Visit Namgyal Gompa, perched on a hilltop serving both as an important monastery and local court. Continue to Tingkhar, the northwestern-most village of the Lo-Mangthang area. Alternatively, explore the Tall Champa Lakhang ("God house"), the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa, and the impressive four-story palace of the Raja, all set against panoramic Himalayan views.
Trek to Dri/Yara (4,000m)
Begin early, following dusty trails toward Yara. The path leads past numerous ancient caves and monasteries before crossing a suspension bridge over the Kaligandaki river to reach Yara. Throughout the day, enjoy diverse landscapes and refreshing mountain breezes.
Yara to Luri (4300m)
Today features a shorter trek with visits to two ancient monasteries, allowing deeper cultural immersion in this remote region.
Luri Gompa to Ghuma Thanti (4,600m)
Start early from Luri Gompa, trekking toward Ghuma Thanti, a shelter built for pilgrims visiting the sacred Damodar Kunda. The trail crosses a high pass, offering magnificent views of Dhaulagiri throughout the day.
Ghuma Thanti to Namta Khola (4,890m)
Today's challenging route first reaches a 5,320m pass with breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna I, followed by a steep descent to Parche Khola. Climb a long, steep slope before crossing from hilltop to hilltop, reaching another pass at 5,490m with clear views of Dhaulagiri and Damodar Himal. Continue to the sacred site of Damodar Kunda with its pristine lakes, small Hindu shrine, and ancient Buddhist chorten, before proceeding to Namta Khola.
Namta Khola to Saribung Base Camp (4,950m)
Depart early from Namta Khola, traversing various high-altitude trails to reach Saribung Base Camp, your launching point for the summit attempt.
Acclimatization Day at Base Camp
Take a full day to acclimatize before the summit push. Explore nearby areas, rest, and prepare mentally and physically for the challenge ahead.
Saribung Base Camp to Camp I (5,730m)
Today's route traverses glacier moraines and hard snowy trails, accompanied by views of Khumjunggar Himal (6,959m) and the Damodar Himal range.
Summit Day - Camp I to Saribung Peak (6,346m) and Back to Base Camp (4,950m)
The most challenging and rewarding day of your expedition begins with a pre-dawn start for the summit push. From the summit, enjoy outstanding panoramic views of Gyajikang, Himlung, Bhrikuti, and countless other peaks before descending to Base Camp.
Saribung Base Camp to Nagoru (4,400m) via Saribung Pass (6,042m)
Begin with a crossing of the Saribung Pass, followed by a steep descent down snowy trails to reach a small stream. Continue following the stream to reach Nagoru for the night.
Nagoru to Phu Gaon (4,080m)
Today's journey crosses a Tibetan-like plateau with views of barren valleys and snowy peaks before reaching Phu Gaon in the heart of the unique "Hidden Valley." Explore the distinct culture of Lama, Gurung, and Ghale ethnic groups and observe their agricultural practices, animal husbandry, and seasonal migration patterns. Visit the historic Tashi Lakhang Monastery, one of the world's 108 great Buddhist monasteries, reportedly the last one built by Karmapa Rinpoche. Enjoy views of Himlung Himal and other snow peaks from this remarkable valley.
Phu Gaon to Meta (3,560m)
Initially descend to Kyang, passing through a narrow valley. Observe the ruined forts at Kyang that once housed Khampa refugees from Tibet. Continue past Jhunam and Chyakhu to reach Meta, with spectacular views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.
Meta to Koto (2,600m)
Begin with a steep descent, then walk through pine forests, passing numerous small streams and charming waterfalls near Dharmashala. Cross several suspension bridges before reaching Koto.
Koto to Dharapani (1,860m)
Trek through small villages amidst pine forests to reach Timang, catching glimpses of Mount Manaslu and other snowy peaks. The trail then steeply descends to Danque, from where a level path leads to Dharapani.
Return to Kathmandu
Journey back to Kathmandu by private vehicle, following the scenic Trishuli River valley.
Cultural Exploration in Kathmandu
Spend the day visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and sacred Pashupatinath Temple where you can witness traditional Hindu cremation ceremonies. Explore medieval cities and palaces throughout the Kathmandu Valley. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner featuring traditional Nepali cuisine and cultural performances.

After breakfast, our representative will escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight, or help arrange additional activities if you're extending your stay in Nepal.
