Beginning Your Adventure

Your expedition begins with a flight from Kathmandu to the scenic lakeside city of Pokhara, followed by another scenic flight to Jomsom – the gateway to Upper Mustang. From here, your trekking adventure unfolds as you traverse the arid, wind-sculpted landscapes of Lo-Manthang, an ancient walled kingdom that seems frozen in time.

Saribung Peak Climbing – 25 Days FAQs

1. How tough is it to climb Saribung Peak?

Saribung Peak is a technically challenging and high-altitude climb. Expect icy slopes, glaciers, and rugged terrain. It’s suitable for those with previous mountaineering experience and strong physical and mental stamina.

2. What permits do I need for Saribung Peak?

You'll need a Saribung Peak Climbing Permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), plus ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit) and a Restricted Area Permit for Upper Mustang. We take care of all permits for you—stress-free!

3. When is the best time to climb?

The best windows are spring (April–May) and autumn (September–November), offering stable weather and crystal-clear views. However, mountain weather can be unpredictable, so flexibility is key.

4. How long does the climb take?

A typical Saribung Peak expedition takes 18 to 24 days, which includes trekking, rest days, acclimatization, and summit attempts.

5. Do I need a guide and porter?

Yes—strongly recommended! A licensed guide ensures safety, helps with route finding, and adds cultural insight. Porters make your journey comfortable by carrying heavy gear, allowing you to focus on the experience.

6. What’s the altitude of Saribung Peak?

Saribung Peak stands at an impressive 6,328 meters (20,761 ft) above sea level. Proper acclimatization is critical for a safe and successful summit.

7. Is this suitable for beginners?

Not quite. This is a climb for those with previous mountaineering or alpine trekking experience. If you're new to mountaineering, we recommend starting with peaks like Island Peak or Mera Peak.

8. What kind of training should I do beforehand?

We recommend at least 3 months of preparation, focusing on:

  • Cardiovascular fitness (running, swimming, hiking)

On the trek: Local teahouses with basic facilities.
During the climb: Tented camps with meals prepared by our crew. It’s simple but cozy and rewarding!

  • High-altitude trekking and mountaineering (up to 6,500 m)
  • Emergency helicopter evacuation
