Scenic Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap (2,930 m)
Today, embark on an epic 8-9 hour drive from Kathmandu to Dhap, the starting point of your trek. The journey takes you through Nepal’s beautiful countryside, with terraced farmlands, verdant hills, and charming villages. Soak in the views of local life as you approach Dhap, a quiet village perched amidst rolling hills. Spend the evening unwinding in a teahouse and enjoying the fresh mountain air.
Trek Begins – Dhap to Jhapre (2,930 m)
The real adventure begins as you lace up your boots and trek towards Jhapre, a 4-5 hour hike through serene trails and lush landscapes. Along the way, you’ll encounter friendly locals, ancient Buddhist stupas, and fluttering prayer flags. As you approach Jhapre, marvel at the stunning views of Numbur Himal and the Everest range. Jhapre is a peaceful village with welcoming teahouses where you’ll stay overnight.
Trekking to Pikey Peak Base Camp (3,640 m)
Rise early and continue your journey to Pikey Peak Base Camp, a 5-6 hour trek that takes you deeper into the mountains. The trail winds through rhododendron forests, open meadows, and small settlements. With each step, the scenery becomes more spectacular, offering glimpses of snow-capped peaks. Permits for Pikey Peak
For the Pikey Peak Trek, you will need three different permits: the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, the Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit (GCAP), and a Local Area Permit.
- The Sagarmatha National Park Permit grants access to the protected region where Pikey Peak lies.
- The Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit is required because part of the trekking route passes through the Gaurishankar Conservation Area.
- The Local Area Permit is issued by local authorities and completes the necessary authorizations for your trek.
The cost is $30 per person each for the Sagarmatha National Park Permit and the Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit, while the Local Area Permit costs $17 per person.
